Verona vs Udinese Match Preview

Verona host Udinese on Tuesday night as Serie A clubs face their first round of midweek games this season. Both clubs were beaten on Saturday although it is fair to say that the two defeats they suffered were very different.

Verona are back in Serie A after a year away and so far they have four points from four games. They have been beaten twice, although to their credit those two defeats came against Juventus and AC Milan, two of the better teams in this division, with Juventus being certainly the best. They kept both games to a one goal defeat too, and there has to be plenty of optimism around this club right now, despite coming here on the back of two defeats.

Udinese won at home to AC Milan on the opening day of the season, and that will no doubt have got fans a little excited about their prospects this season. However, since then they have registered three defeats, and they come here on the back of a poor home loss to Brescia at the weekend. If Udinese want to get up into the top half of the table, where many think they belong, then they are going to have to turn things around in the coming games.

That is something we don’t believe they will do here though. Verona have started well, registering points on the board while also impressing in defeat against bigger clubs. This games gives them the chance to add three points to their total, and with Udinese struggling at the moment, we are backing them to take advantage of that.
