Verona vs Cittadella Match Preview
Verona come into the top-flight promotion Play-offs Final as heavy favourites to secure the final spot in the Serie A next term, hosting Cittadella for the return match of their clash hoping to prove such character and complete the quest despite only ending 5th in a thriller finish of the regular campaign.
Gialloblu come into the contest on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak where they beat Perugia (4-1 in extra time) and Pescara (1-0 on aggregate) in two very narrow Play-offs clashes, now hoping to capitalize and edge past the rivals who also come into the Final as somewhat of a surprise.
Indeed, Cittadella beat Spezia (1-2) and overturned the semi-finals clash against Benevento to their favour after a disappointing 1-2 first-leg loss with a convincing 0-3 win on the road. They will now be very motivated to keep it up and make it to Serie A for the first time ever.
Citta have been scoring goals on the road but still struggled to capitalize on it ahead of the Play-offs, which still gives a feeling of troubles at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi – where they haven’t snatched a win since 2007 and the sides’ first ever Serie C head-to-head clash.
We feel Verona will now be able to capitalize on such a streak and we’ll back them to bag a Home win on Sunday, which comes off as the best approach to the fixture regardless of the first-leg result.
However, we expect the visitors just as motivated with a great streak at the most important of times, as we now hope for a high-scoring contest. We’ll thus also go for it with Over 2.5 Goals FT, which would be the third such occasion in the sides’ last four meetings.
