Venezuela vs Peru Match Preview
Venezuela have beaten United States (0-3) and picked up their team spirits with goals from Salomon Rondon (x2) and Jefferson Savarino, meeting Peru for their Matchday 1 clash in Group A in hope they can build on the performance and make it count early in the Copa America campaign.
Indeed, the clash could prove crucial for the sides’ top 2 ambitions with Brazil’s projected top spot, as La Vinotinto hope to show off and make a great step towards the knockout stages. They’ve been scoring goals on the regular but we haven’t really been used to rock-solid defensive displays, which could be more worrying for Rafael Dudamel.
Peru, on the other hand, come into the match with a comfortable 0-3 loss to Colombia behind them, failing to build on a 1-0 win over Costa Rica seen just days beforehand. They’ve seen their unpredictable form at the back confirmed once again and it’s rather tough seeing them capitalize on a narrow contest here.
La Blanquirroja have thus struggled to connect good results and this could prove costly in Brazil as well, where the first win over Venezuela since 2012 would surely mean a great deal. Still, we don’t feel they have enough to secure the points on the opening day of the campaign.
We will thus stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils in Porto Alegre and go for a Draw priced at 2/1 with bet365, which has been rated more than just a lively longshot by many in the know already.
We do feel we’re in for a thrilling contest and goals, though, as we now also go for a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 8/11 with Ladbrokes and looks a great approach to the fixture by itself.
