Vancouver Whitecaps vs Toronto Match Preview
Vancouver Whitecaps host struggling Toronto for their Saturday’s clash on the back of a 2-1 win over Dallas, where first-half goals from Ali Adnan and Lucas Venuto proved enough for all three points and a return to the winning ways after three games without one.
Caps have proven themselves a very tough nut to crack in a narrow 0-1 loss to Atlanta United as well as draws at Sporting KC (1-1) and New York Red Bulls (2-2), as Marc Dos Santos’ men sit just outside the Western Conference top 7. They’ll now be very motivated to make the cut as soon as this weekend and we do see them making it happen.
Indeed, Toronto have struggled for points and managed just one in their last five outings, which makes building on good head-to-head records against the Whitecaps a tough task. They’ve seen SJ Earthquakes (1-2) complete a comeback after taking the lead on Monday and now surely have a lot on their mind.
Reds have bagged just one point in four outings beforehand too, as they held DC United to a goalless draw but their struggles to score goals on the regular proved costly in losses to Atlanta (2-0), Philadelphia Union (1-2) and Real Salt Lake (3-0).
We will now back Vancouver Whitecaps to capitalize on the rivals’ woes too and we’ll go for a Home win at 13/10 with William Hill, which seems like great value all things considered – as Caps look for their second win over Toronto in a row.
However, we feel they will have to outgun the rivals and struggling for consistency at the back, this has us sticking with a Yes on Both teams to score too – which comes at 4/7 with bet365 and looks like buying money for old rope.
