Valencia vs Lille Match Preview
Valencia host Lille for their Matchday 4 Champions League clash on Tuesday, just days after their weekend trip to Espanyol, as they look for important points in an attempt to break into the Group H top 2 – now sitting two behind both 1st placed Chelsea and 2nd placed Ajax.
Los Che were denied with a last-gasp equalizer at Stade Pierre-Mauroy two weeks ago and they now hope for more in front of the home fans, despite a rather unpredictable spell of form behind them. They saw a tough schedule and draws against Atletico Madrid (1-1) and Sevilla (1-1) along the way, where a 3-1 loss at Osasuna comes as the only real disappointment.
Lille have a trip to Marseille on their hands just days beforehand and they will hope to build on their last week’s win over Bordeaux, which marked a return to the winning ways after five outings across competitions. They have been scoring goals but defensive slip-ups made it impossible to capitalize, which will be worrying.
LOSC earned draws at Nice (1-1), Nimes (2-2) as well as losses to Chelsea (1-2) and Toulouse (2-1) along the way. The struggles to turn clashes their way away from home will be even more of a worry ahead of the trip to Mestalla and we don’t really see them ending the unwanted streak on the day.
We will thus back Valencia to secure the points and we’ll go for a Home win at 4/5 with William Hill, which looks like great value despite a strong challenge looming – as Lille still search for their first away win this season.
We do hope to see goals and this could mean a thrilling contest at Mestalla. We’ll go for Over 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with Paddy Power, which has caught a lot of attention with value seekers already as both sides enjoy such clashes on the regular.
