Valencia vs Krasnodar Match Preview
Valencia host Krasnodar for their Europa League clash on Thursday looking for their fourth home win in a row amid a streak where they haven’t seen a loss since January, now surely hoping to capitalize on such consistency and earn a first-leg advantage in front of the home fans.
Los Che have beaten Celtic (1-0), Real Betis (1-0), and Athletic Bilbao (2-0) here and kept clean sheets in seven of the last eight outings at Mestalla, which promises Marcelino’s outfit rock-solid on Thursday as well. They’ve based success on such an approach and we expect more of the same in 16th Finals.
The clash doesn’t come at the best time possible for Krasnodar on the other end, as they struggle to turn clashes their way since the lengthy winter break. They’ve edged past Bayer Leverkusen on an away goal in a 1-1 aggregate draw but also saw a Cup loss to Rostov (1-0) and just a 1-1 draw at Rostov in Premier League since.
Byki struggled to score goals on the regular and this could prove even more worrying ahead of the trip to Spain, as a loss here could as well make all the difference. Murad Musaev will thus have to be looking for a cure for such woes but we don’t see the visitors coming away with anything in the first leg.
We will thus stick with Valencia to turn this one their way and win to Nil at 5/4 with bet365, which has caught our eye with the home side’s rock-solid defensive displays of recent and hope they’ll be able to sail past Krasnodar.
Still, we expect a lot left to play for in the second leg and we don’t feel we’re in for many goals – as we also back a low-scoring clash with Under 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with William Hill. We’ve seen such clashes on both ends on the regular lately and this feels like great value.
