USA vs Trinidad & Tobago Match Preview
USA have outclassed Guyana (4-0) as Paul Arriola opened the scoresheet in the first half and Boyd (x2) and Zardes made it very comfortable in the second, now hosting Trinidad & Tobago in hope they can build on such a performance and secure a top 2 spot in Group D.
Stars and Stripes have struggled for consistency beforehand and this has had many doubting their role of favourites, but Gregg Berhalter has a lot to be happy about at this point. We thus expect them in great shape once again and they should have what it takes to secure all three points.
Trinidad & Tobago had a good half against Panama but still dropped all three points in a 2-0 loss, as they failed to score goals in their fifth consecutive outings since October 2018. They’ve been solid defensively but still found it very hard to capitalize with such goalscoring woes.
Soca Warriors will now be looking to put an end to such a streak but doing so against reinvigorated USA will surely be a very tough task, which has few keeping faith they can cause an upset. They’ve shocked the rivals back in 2017 but we don’t see them doing so now.
We’ll thus rather stick with USA to secure the points and do so with confidence, as we go for them to win to Nil at an enticing 11/10 with bet365. We’ve seen them rock-solid against Guyana and now hope for more of the same in that sense.
We’ve also seen Ankaragucu’s in-form Tyler Boyd keep up his good performances early in the tournament, which has us sticking with him to find the net anytime on the day as well – which comes at 6/5 with Paddy Power and has caught the eye of many in the know already.
