Tranmere vs Hull Match Preview
Hull City have been quite unpredictable through their pre-season and they opened the new campaign with a 2-1 loss at Swansea, where an early opener from Daniel Batty proved insufficient for any points as Grant McCann’s men conceded two just after the half-time break.
Tigers travel to Prenton Park for their League Cup clash at Tranmere on the back of a 2-1 home win over Reading, though, where they finally ended a four-match winless streak. They will now want more of the same against the League One rivals and we do expect them very motivated to cause an upset.
Tranmere will hope to capitalize on the rivals’ struggles on the road and a general feeling of inconsistency, but they’ve largely struggled to impress in the new campaign themselves. They have been a tougher side to outgun in front of the home fans but two consecutive losses will hardly be a confidence booster.
Indeed, Rovers have found the net twice very late in a 2-3 loss to Rochdale at this ground early this month and struggled to bounce back quickly, seeing a 2-0 loss at Portsmouth over the weekend. They have had troubles and it feels Tranmere have a lot of work if they’re to turn their luck around.
We don’t see them doing so against Hull, though, and we’ll now rather back the visitors to snatch a win and make their way to the 2nd Round. This comes at 13/10 with bet365 and looks great value at this point, already attracting many in the know.
We should be in for goals, though, and we feel Hull will have to outgun the rivals if they’re to do so! With that in mind, we’re now also going for a high-scoring contest with Over 2.5 Goals FT at 17/20 with William Hill.
