Tranmere vs Doncaster Match Preview
Doncaster travel to struggling Tranmere for their Matchday 16 clash on Tuesday evening looking to bounce from a 2-1 loss seen at Fleetwood over the weekend, where a second-half goal from Niall Ennis proved nothing but a consolation as Darren Moore’s men failed to extend a two-match unbeaten streak.
Donny held off Sunderland (0-0) and beat Southend (3-1) beforehand and they’ll now hope to build on such performances, having shown off as a tough side to score against on the road. They beat Peterborough (0-3) and Bristol Rovers (0-2) on two important trips since Boxing Day and keeping it up could prove crucial if they’re to join the top 6 chase.
Tranmere have struggled for such pick-me-ups and their only win in the last 11 outings came against Premier League rivals Watford (2-1) in FA Cup. They crashed out of the competition with a 0-6 loss to Man United since and saw losses to Sunderland (0-1) and Bolton (2-0) in League One as their goalscoring woes continued.
Super White Army have been tougher to beat in front of the home fans but they hardly have the boasting rights, as they sit in the relegation zone with 22 points earned in 27 games. They will be desperate to close the six-point gap to 20th AFC Wimbledon but we don’t see them doing so on the day.
We will thus stick with Doncaster to snatch all three points and we’ll go for an Away win at 23/20 with William Hill, which seems well worth taking as Donny still enjoy a better moment despite a weekend disappointment at Highbury Stadium.
We do expect a narrow occasion in the making and with that in mind, we’re also going for few goals with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 20/23 with BetVictor. We’ve seen Doncaster enjoying such games through January and we’re now hoping for such a trend to continue.
