Tottenham vs Man City Fansbet Preview

“Spurs must hope that their new surroundings can inspire them to greater form, as although there were happy scenes at their new home following a 2-0 success over Crystal Palace, it wasn’t until the second half that they finally got going and a nervous start could be fatal with City in search of an away goal or two.

However, Pep Guardiola’s men haven’t been at their absolute most prolific these past couple of weeks, with their 1-0 FA Cup triumph over Brighton preceded by 2-0 wins over lowly duo Cardiff and Fulham.”

Tottenham vs Man City Match Preview

Tottenham Hotspur’s only chance of silverware this season remains the Champions League. The Lilywhites are in a chase for a top four finish in the Premier League so they can qualify for the tournament again next year but they won’t be able to chase down Liverpool and Manchester City for the title and they have failed to secure that first trophy under Mauricio Pochettino in either the EFL Cup or FA Cup, being dumped out by Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively.

After a really slow start to their group stage performances, the Lilywhites appeared dead and buried in the Champions League after picking up just one point from their first two games but produced some much improved performances in the second half of that phase to progress alongside Barcelona. A comfortable win over Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund sent them into the Quarter Finals where they’ll look for a home win in the first leg here at 16/5 with Paddy Power.

Manchester City are looking for an unprecedented quadruple this season. No English team has ever managed to win the four major trophies on offer in any given season but as we approach the final few games of the campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side have the chance to achieve it. They’ve already secured the EFL Cup, are through to the final of the FA Cup, are into this Champions League quarter final and embroiled in an enthralling title race with Liverpool in the Premier League.

Like Spurs, their start to this competition wasn’t perfect but the Citizens have picked up since. A disappointing home defeat to Lyon on Matchday One was not enough to deter Guardiola and his side from securing top spot in the group and again like Spurs, they overcame German opposition in the shape of Schalke in the Round of 16. You can back them to secure a first leg lead by becoming the first team to beat Tottenham at their new stadium at odds of Bet365.

We think Spurs could be difficult to beat here. It’s been a tough few months for the Lilywhites, but with the majority of their players now fit and firing and the grand opening of the stadium yielding a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace, confidence will be back among their squad. They’ve saved their best performances for matches against the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund in this competition this term and we can see them earning a draw in this clash at 14/5 with William Hill.

Harry Kane didn’t get on the scoresheet in the opening game at Tottenham’s new stadium but he remains the Lilywhites’ main goal threat this season. The England captain has racked up no fewer than 24 goals in all competitions despite his injury problems, including five in the Champions League. We’re backing him to get on the scoresheet in this game at odds of 6/4 with PaddyPower.
