Tottenham vs Arsenal Match Preview

Tottenham Hotspur are enduring a real rollercoaster season but continue to defy expectations in some senses. The Lilywhites may be out of both domestic cups and the title race may be slipping out of their sights after last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Burnley, but they remain comfortably inside the top four despite a lack of movement on the transfer and stadium fronts and they have progressed to the final sixteen stage of the Champions League.

The Lilywhites had won four games on the spin prior to last week’s 2-1 loss at Turf Moor and they face a tough fixture in midweek with a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea before another London derby on Saturday against Arsenal. With points to prove, particularly after a 4-2 defeat to the Emirates Stadium in the reverse fixture of this clash, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be desperate to win this one for the supporters at odds of 9/10 with Bet365.

Arsenal’s season has had it’s peaks and troughs also. It was always going to be a tough job for Unai Emery to come into following the Arsene Wenger era but the Spanish boss did seem to be getting to grips with the job in the early stages of the campaign has his side enjoyed an unbeaten 22 game run in all competitions, including a North London derby win over Spurs. Since then however, the wheels haven’t exactly come off, but they’ve certainly wobbled somewhat.

Many of the issues with this Gunners outfit in the latter stages of Wenger’s reign in charge came away from home and those struggles have certainly been relevant in the last few weeks, with Emery’s men picking up just two wins in their last eight matches away from the Emirates Stadium. A victory at Wembley Stadium on Saturday would be a huge boost to the players and fans alike but the bookies don’t fancy it at odds of 29/10 with William Hill.

Six goals were shared between these two teams in the reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season and it’s fair to say that both sides have looked stronger going forward than they have defensively of late and in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane, two of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards will be on show in this game. Spurs are the better side and have the home advantage so we’re backing the home win and both teams to score bet at odds of 5/2 with Bet365.

That man Harry Kane returned from injury for Spurs over the weekend and scored his side’s goal in their defeat at Turf Moor. The England captain has, despite injury problems, already racked up 21 goals in all competitions prior to Wednesday night’s clash with Chelsea and he has a famously fine record in London deries. He’s our anytime scorer tip at 10/11 with William Hill.
