Tottenham Hotspur vs Sheffield United Match Preview
Sheffield United’s terrific start to the season goes from strength to strength – but their unbeaten away record will be put to a huge test against a Tottenham side who may just be about to hit form.
The Blades have been a revelation in only their second Premier League campaign since 1994, sitting sixth in the table with superb records both defensively and away from home (see stats above).
Those facts are not mutually exclusive either, which is probably best exemplified by United’s 2-0 win at Everton. That remains their only victory on the road but they have so far proven impossible to beat when venturing away from their South Yorkshire base.
Compared to last season, Tottenham are not a scary proposition for they enter the weekend in the bottom half of the table. But that does look something of a false position and we expect Spurs to surge upwards between now and Christmas.
Certainly in Europe, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are getting it together having won back-to-back games against Red Star Belgrade by a 9-0 aggregate and they will be buoyed here by having had Heung-min Son’s red card at Everton last weekend and consequent suspension overturned.
This will not be straightforward as Sheffield United do not make life easy for anyone, but Tottenham are backed to claim a first Premier League win in five attempts.
