Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley Match Preview
Sean Dyche hopes to maintain an impressive record when facing Jose Mourinho on the Special One’s own patch as he takes his Burnley team to Tottenham on Saturday.
Three times the Clarets manager has been in the away dugout against Mourinho and avoided defeat on each occasion, drawing twice at Manchester United and once at Chelsea when the Blues were on course for the Premier League title.
But you suspect it will be more difficult this time, partly because Mourinho has had an immediate positive impact with Spurs but also because Burnley are a significantly better side at home this season than on the road.
Their mid-table position is entirely representative of the Lancashire club’s status this term, although Dyche will be disappointed to have suffered successive Turf Moor defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester City in the past week by respective 2-0 and 4-1 scorelines.
If there was a positive from those losses, it’s that on-loan Danny Drinkwater, for whom Chelsea paid a staggering £35million to Leicester two years ago, made his first Premier League appearance of the season against City – only his sixth league start since leaving the Foxes!
Burnley will be encouraged by the four goals Tottenham have conceded in their two home games under Mourinho, but ultimately they are expected to fall to a third straight defeat.
