Sweden vs Moldova Match Preview
Sweden travel to Doha for their Friendly clash against Moldova as the first step in preparations for EURO 2020, hoping to build on a rock-solid finish of their Qualifiers campaign and wins over Romania (0-2) and Faroe Islands (3-0) – which saw them secure the top 2 spot in Group F with confidence.
Blue and Yellows will be without most of their stars, though, and Janne Andersson called up a line-up mainly consisted of players from Allsvenskan and Danish Superliga. The side will be led by veteran Martin Olsson while the only other player to collect more than ten appearances will be Hammarby’s Alexander Kacaniklic, who bagged three goals in his last four appearances to deserve a call-up.
Moldova have, on the other hand, seen seven consecutive losses since June and while they found the net in both of their last two outings, this proved nothing but a consolation as France (2-1) and Iceland (1-2) secured the points. They will not have as many lesser-known faces and the whole starting line-up from their Qualifiers clash against Iceland will be in Doha.
Engin Firat will want his men to end the lengthy losing streak but his men will still be in for a great task we feel. They’ve struggled defensively and Sweden’s in-form strikers should see open spaces behind the lines now as well, which has us hoping they can turn an exciting contest their way.
We’ll thus back Sweden to win and a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes off as the best approach to the fixture with many changes in their defensive line – which could mean less cohesion and should ultimately force them to outgun the rivals if they’re to keep hold of the perfect run in head-to-head clashes.
With that in mind, we’re hoping for a high-scoring occasion and we’ll now also back Over 2.5 Goals FT. Moldova will have to play their role in making this a thriller and we do see them making it happen, despite the obvious difference in depth of quality at this point.
