Sunderland vs Ipswich Match Preview
Sunderland host Ipswich for their Matchday 32 clash on Saturday afternoon looking for a return to the winning ways after a disappointing trip to Portsmouth, where goals from Burgess and Bolton proved enough for the rivals to bag a comfortable win at Fratton Park. They’ll now want more in search of a ticket to the top 6 and we expect them very motivated to impress.
Black Cats have been very tough to score against in front of the home fans and Phil Parkinson will want to base success on another such display now. They’ve kept three clean sheets in the last four outings at Stadium of Light, bagging eight points along the way and showing off such a character on the regular.
Ipswich come into the match after a disappointing week just as much, where they saw Rotherham (1-0) and Peterborough (1-4) both snatch the points. Thrashing loss in front of the home fans over the weekend surely gives Paul Lambert a lot to think about as the top 6 cut now comes into question.
Tractor Boys struggled to score goals on the road and failed to find the net at all on two of their last three trips. They held off Oxford (0-0) and narrowly beat struggling Tranmere (1-2) through a second-half comeback along the way, which all has us questioning if they have what it takes for an upset now.
We’ll thus back Sunderland to build on their rock-solid defensive tally at this ground and turn a narrow contest their way, going for them to secure all three points in a Home win priced at 11/10 with William Hill despite a tough challenge.
We don’t really see this as a one-sided contest in the making but we still hope to see a very narrow one, with a tough defensive approach on both ends. With that in mind, we’re hoping a single goal could make all the difference as we also back Black Cats to keep a clean sheet at 13/8 with William Hill.
