Sunderland vs Coventry Match Preview
Sunderland host Coventry for their Matchday 42 clash just days after doing the same for Burton Albion on Tuesday, as they look to jump Barnsley on the league table – now sitting behind the 2nd placed rivals only for their goal difference with two games in hand.
Black Cats have beaten Accrington Stanley (0-3) and Rochdale (1-2) in two exciting occasions last week, bouncing back from a disappointing EFL Trophy final loss to Portsmouth (on penalties after a 2-2 draw) and now surely hoping to build on the performances on the road.
Coventry have seen less of a busy schedule the rivals enjoyed lately but they can boast no great mood of recent, as they earned just two points in last three outings and now lag eight behind the top 6. Even more worryingly, they’ve struggled to score goals along the way and Mark Robins now has to look for a quick fix.
Sky Blues have thus seen a 0-1 loss to Oxford and just bounced back with points earned in draws against Barnsley (2-2) and Bristol Rovers (0-0). They’ve seen a real thriller at Oakwell Stadium and this has been indicative of their performances on the road, where they boast a five-match unbeaten streak.
We don’t see them extending it at Stadium of Light, though, and we’ll now back Sunderland to secure the important points – with an enticing Home win priced at 4/5 with William Hill.
We should be in for goals, though, and Black Cats should be forced into an exciting contest if they’re to bag the points. With that in mind, we’re now also backing a high-scoring clash with Over 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with bet365, which looks a great approach to the fixture by itself.
