Sunderland vs Bolton Match Preview
Sunderland host Bolton for their Matchday 23 clash on Boxing Day with a troubled spell of form behind them, where they earned just two points in four League One outings and dropped out of both FA Cup and EFL Trophy since early November. They will now be desperate to bounce and keep up with the league’s top 6 but it’s fair to say Phil Parkinson has a lot to prove.
Black Cats have been conceding early on and found themselves chasing an equalizer once too often lately, as they dropped points to Burton (1-2), Gillingham (1-0), and only held on to a point in a 1-1 draw against Blackpool over the weekend thanks to an equalizer from Charlie Wyke.
Bolton sit rock-bottomed with just five points to their name despite winning 17, with a huge 15-point gap to 20th Tranmere and 19th Wimbledon still to make up. They come into the match with a thriller 3-2 win over similarly struggling Southend but building on such a display could prove a tough task.
Wanderers have struggled for goalscoring consistency and failed to find the net on both of their two December trips so far, seeing narrow losses at Accrington (2-0) in EFL Trophy and Peterborough (1-0) in League One. They’ll now want more but we feel Keith Hill and his men will not be able to get it at Stadium of Light.
We will back Sunderland to bag all three points and although they’ve struggled to turn clashes their way, we feel this will prove a great opportunity to finally bounce as we go for a Home win to Nil at 31/20 with BetVictor.
We should still be in for a narrow occasion and Bolton will be no sitting ducks. We thus hope to see few goals on the day and we’ll go for Under 2.5 Goals FT, which comes at 11/10 with bet365 and has caught the eye of many in the know already.
