Suduva vs Red Star Belgrade Match Preview
After what could be called smooth sailing and a ticket earned to the 3rd Qualifying Round against the rivals last year, Red Star Belgrade travel to Marijampole for their Champions League clash at Suduva hoping for another such quest – coming into the match as heavy favourites to make their way to the next stage.
Red-Whites have been unpredictable through their pre-season but finally ended the winless streak as they beat Blau-Weiß Linz (1-3), after failing to edge Cluj (1-1), Apollon (1-1), and Zenit (1-0 loss) in three outings since mid-June. However, Vladan Milojevic’s men now have a lot more to play for and we expect them very motivated to impress.
Suduva have the competitive edge and surely hope they can make it count, as they’re already midway through their A Lyga table and top it just two points clear of 2nd placed Zalgiris after 17 games played. They’ve been scoring (and conceding) goals on the regular and Vladimir Cheburin will want more of an impact this time around.
Sudovians come into the match on the back of convincing wins over Atlantas (4-1) and Kauno Zalgiris (3-0), as Tosaint Ricketts and Mihret Topcagic led the attacking line with 16 between them so far. Still, Red Star will be much more of a challenge we feel and we don’t see them up to it.
We’ll thus back the visitors to another win at Marijampoles Sporto Centro Stadione and to do so with confidence, as we go for Red Star Belgrade to win to Nil at 11/10 with Coral – which has caught a lot of attention with their strong defensive setup.
Still, we hope to see something left to play for in the second leg too and we don’t see too many goals on the day, as we now also back Under 2.5 Goals FT at 3/4 with bet365. Red-Whites haven’t really impressed up front lately and this does add to such a belief here.
