St Mirren are struggling at the very foot of the Scottish Premiership at the moment but they still have an opportunity to get out of the relegation mire. After winning promotion as champions of the Scottish Championship last term, the Buddies lost popular manager Jack Ross to Sunderland and replacement Alan Stubbs was sacked after just four games in charge and replaced with Northern Irishman Oran Kearney in September.

The former Coleraine boss has struggled to compete in the top tier this season but form has taken an upwards turn in the last few weeks. The Saints have not lost in their last three games, even picking up a much-needed victory over Livingston last time out, leaving them just one point off Dundee in 11th place and four from Hamilton Academicals in tenth. Kilmarnock have for the majority of this season looked like potential title challengers alongside Rangers and Celtic. Killie managed to avoid defeat against both of the big Glaswegian clubs earlier in the campaign and remained in touching distance of the top spots in the division but momentum appears to have slowed up in the last few weeks and they have slipped down to a relatively disappointing fourth place in the table.

Realistically, a top four finish would certainly be a pleasing campaign for the Rugby Park faithful but after coming so close to the top spot for so long, fans will be disappointed that Steve Clarke and his side come into this Monday night fixture on the back of an eight game winless run in all competitions including a 5-0 mauling at the hands of the Gers in the Scottish FA Cup.
