St Mirren vs Hearts Match Preview
Hearts travel to Paisley for their Matchday 28 clash on Wednesday evening desperate for points to escape the Premiership rock-bottom, sitting three points behind St Mirren and hoping they can jump the rivals with a comfortable win at Simple Digital Arena. They have been tough to beat lately and Daniel Stendel will certainly hope his men can take confidence from such a streak.
Jam earned five points in three Premiership outings since mid-February and beat Rangers (1-0) in FA Cup along the way, proving themselves a very tough nut in front of the home fans. They still have a lot to prove on the road and doing so will be crucial in an attempt to plot relegation escape towards late in the campaign.
St Mirren have struggled to score goals lately and while they held St Johnstone to a goalless draw last time out in front of the home fans, more comfortable losses to Aberdeen (0-2) and Celtic (5-0) over the past two weeks will be very worrying. The loss to Dons only came as the first in the last seven outings here but Jim Goodwin’s men have to recuperate quickly.
Buddies have just as high stakes involved here and we expect them very motivated to do so, despite a tough challenge looming. They held off Aberdeen (0-0 in Premiership), Hamilton (1-1), and Motherwell (1-1) at Simple Digital Arena in 2020 and will surely be tough to break down on the day as well.
We feel they will have a hard time bouncing from a 5-0 drubbing at Celtic Park, though, and we’ll now stick our necks out for Hearts to build on their recent run – going for an Away win at 7/5 with William Hill and hoping they can turn a narrow contest their way.
We’ve been used to tough games in Paisley, where St Mirren based their success on defensive displays before anything else. With that in mind, we’re hoping for few goals once again and backing Under 2.5 Goals FT feels like buying money at 4/6 with bet365.
