St Johnstone vs Hibernian Match Preview
Hibernian travel to Perth for their Matchday 28 clash at St Johnstone on the back of a three-match winning streak, having outclassed Dundee in a 2-4 win on Friday and built on comfortable home wins over Raith Rovers (3-1 in FA Cup) and Hamilton Academical (2-0).
Hibs have been led by an in-form Mark McNulty as they found the net nine goals in three outings across competitions, which should have them very motivated at McDiarmid Park as well. They sit ahead of the Saints only for their goal difference and snatching points here will be crucial in their attempts to build on a top 6 spot.
St Johnstone have, on the other hand, struggled with a tough schedule as they dropped out of the Championship Group with just one point in six league outings and saw an FA Cup exit to Celtic (5-0) along the way. Failing to find the net at all in two home clashes (0-2 losses to both Celtic and Aberdeen) could be even more worrying, though.
Tommy Wright’s struggles to find a cure for the Saints’ woes in the final third have been obvious but he’s surely seen the Hibs’ inconsistencies at the back, which still promises a strong challenge. We thus hope for an exciting clash at McDiarmid Park but it’s tough to see them deny the in-form visitors here.
We’ll thus stick our necks out for Hibernian to snatch all three points and go for an Away win here at 6/4 with William Hill, which feels like great value seeing their performances in the final third recently.
Still, we feel St Johnstone will be no sitting ducks on the day and we do see them getting on the scoresheet as well, sticking with an exciting contest and a Yes on Both teams to score at 10/11 with bet365. We’ve seen goals on both ends in four of the Hibs’ last six outings and this looks like further evidence for such a bet.
