St Etienne vs Strasbourg Match Preview
Strasbourg come into a busy week in great spirits after making it to Coupe de la Ligue Final with a thriller 3-2 win over Bordeaux, which was their eighth win in nine outings across competitions – with just a Coupe de France loss at Paris Saint-Germain (2-0) interrupting the winning streak.
Le Racing sit just two points behind the rivals after 22 games played, now surely very motivated to cause an upset and jump the rivals on the table in a thriller chase for the spots leading to Champions League Qualifiers. They’ve been in great shape up front primarily led by Lebo Mothiba who found the net twice in their Cup clash against Les Girondins.
St Etienne have lost on such consistency more recently and this could be more worrying with a tough schedule ahead, as Jean-Louis Gasset’s men suffered losses to Lyon (1-2), Dijon (3-6 in Coupe de France), and only ended January with a 1-1 draw at Nantes – which now has five sides breathing down their necks on Ligue 1 table.
Les Verts have been a very tough side to beat at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard through most part of the campaign and regaining such confidence here will be essential if they’re to keep hold of their spot. They’ve been regularly netting numbers of goals here but outgunning Strasbourg in search of an end to an unwanted streak should prove no easy task.
We will now stick with the in-form visitors to leave St Etienne unbeaten and going for a Double Chance – Draw or Away win at 4/5 with Betfair feels like a great approach to the fixture at this point. We have seen them in great shape and we should now see them able to capitalize on the rivals’ woes.
However, this will be no easy task either and after seeing St Etienne regularly netting (and recently conceding) numbers of goals here – we’re also going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 17/20 with Betway as a safer approach to the fixture.
