St Etienne vs Dijon Match Preview
St Etienne have been in fine form since late December and they’ve only seen their four-match winning streak ended by Lyon (1-2) on Sunday, now hosting Dijon for their Coupe de France clash looking for a way back to the winning ways and a ticket to the 8th Finals.
Les Verts have beaten Olympique Marseille (2-1) beforehand and shown off as a tough side in front of the home fans once again, connecting their fifth home win since early November. They have now slipped up but it’s tough seeing Dijon cause a similar upset, as Jean-Louis Gasset takes on a task to lift his men’s spirits.
Dijon have kicked off 2019 with a Coupe de France win over Schiltigheim (1-3) and held Montpellier to a 1-1 draw at home ground. However, they’ve now seen the unbeaten streak ended by Bordeaux (1-0) and see themselves on the brink of the relegation zone in Ligue 1, which will hardly be a boost to their confidence.
Les Rouges struggled to score goals away from home and their 3-0 loss at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in December is indicative of such a form, where they failed to find the net in three of their last four trips. They will now want more but will be in for a similarly tough task on the day.
We will thus back the home side to a similarly confident win and we’ll go for St Etienne to win to Nil at 17/10 with BetVictor, which seems great value despite their struggles to show off against Lyon just days ago.
We don’t expect as many goals either and we’ll also stick with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 23/20 with Ladbrokes, seeing Dijon’s struggles to score goals on the road but hoping for more of a challenge this time around.
