Bordeaux come into this game in a mid-table position while St Etienne continue to edge closer to the relegation zone and really need a win from somewhere. The hosts have not won any of their last six league games, a run that has seen them tumble towards the drop zone. Bordeaux in contrast, have only been beaten once in their last seven and that came at the hands of runaway league leaders PSG.

What has been a problem for Bordeaux has been converting draws into wins. Of those seven games, four were draws and just two were wins. If they are to get up into the top half of the Ligue 1 table between now and the end of the season then more wins are required. They are playing well, but just need a little more to take them over the top.
