Spain U21 vs Poland U21 Predictions

Spain were expected to be among the teams fighting for the UEFA Under 21 Championship trophy in Italy this summer. The nation has won plaudits all over the world in the past for it’s ability to keep producing incredibly talented players playing with what has now become a distinctively Spanish style of play and it’s produced silverware in recent years too with la Rojita winning the 2011 and 2013 editions of this tournament.

A 3-1 defeat at the hands of hosts Italy got Luis de la Fuente’s side off to the worst possible start, particularly given how difficult it is for teams to progress from the group stages in this tournament. Qualification to the semi-finals remains a possibility however after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Belgium in their second fixture, but they will need to take all three points from this game at odds of 2/7 with Coral to stand any chance.

Poland have surprised everyone at the tournament so far. Bialo-czerwoni do not have the best of records in this tournament in the past, with their qualification to the last edition in 2017 their first qualification since 1994 and in all of their previous attempts at this tournament they have never managed to make it beyond the quarter final stage, but they appear set to bypass that stage and into the final four this time around.

A confident performance in a see-saw game with Belgium in their opening fixture resulted in a 3-2 victory and even more impressively, Czeslaw Michniewicz’s young charges then managed to overcome the hosts Italy by a 0-1 scoreline in their second fixture. Can they complete the set and win all three group stage games to finish top of the group by securing a victory in Bologna at 10/1 with Ladbrokes.

We’re backing the goals here. Spain will always seek to play in an attacking manner and they have done so at this tournament, scoring three times in their first two matches but looking shaky at the back, shipping four goals. Poland have won both of their games so far, but did show a defensive frailty in conceding twice against Belgium in their opener. That’s why we’re backing both teams to score at 19/20 with Bet365.

Krystian Bielik has been a rare goal threat for Poland so far in this tournament. The Arsenal man, who is primarily a defensive player, has scored in both of the White Eagles victories at the tournament so far, taking his tally for the U21s to three goals in just five appearances. Can he get another in this game at 10/1 with PaddyPower?
