Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Preview
Tottenham continue to be the great entertainers – surprisingly so – under Jose Mourinho and their trip to Southampton may well be another match that contains a few goals.
The days when Mourinho’s teams went 2-0 up and then shut the front door appear to be over judging by the way his Spurs reign has begun. Two or more goals have been scored in all of his 10 games in charge and on each of the three occasions when Tottenham were two up, the net bulged a further three times before the final whistle!
After winning his first three matches at the helm, Mourinho’s Tottenham have become inconsistent. They made hard work of their latest two victories, which have been followed by a 2-0 home defeat against Chelsea and a 2-2 draw away to struggling Norwich.
Southampton, meanwhile, are improving. They have collected 13 points from the last 21 available, including a superb 2-0 triumph at Chelsea, and put vital breathing space between themselves and the Premier League relegation zone.
Danny Ings is enjoying an excellent campaign with 12 league goals so far, but there does remain a worry about Saints’ home form due to only two wins in the last dozen fixtures on their own pitch.
In fairness, Spurs are not the best travellers, but we are happy to take a chance on them at what looks an attractive price of 6/5 to edge a contest that should be compelling viewing for both supporters and neutrals alike.
