Southampton vs Huddersfield Match Preview
Rock-bottomed Huddersfield shocked Manchester United (1-1) in front of the home fans to deny them a chase for a Champions League spot on the final day of the campaign, now travelling to Southampton hoping to build on such a performance and end an underwhelming campaign on a positive note.
Terriers have thus only ended an eight-match losing streak and with just 15 points to their name after 37 games played, it’s hard to see them in good spirits at St. Mary’s either. They’ve struggled to score goals and this has been more than an obvious woe, as Jan Siewert’s men have a tally of 21 goals to their name this term.
Southampton have seen similar struggles for consistency and only secured the survival by a slim margin, thankful that Brighton and Cardiff haven’t taken advantage of a poor streak where they earned just two points in the last four outings.
Saints have seen a tough schedule and three trips along the way, as they held Watford (1-1) and Bournemouth (3-3) to draws but suffered quite comfortable losses at Newcastle (3-1) and West Ham (3-0) most recently. They will now want to show more ahead of a lengthy break at St. Mary’s and we do see them doing so.
