Southampton vs Fulham Match Preview
Fulham have not won in the league at Southampton for 84 years, but with both of these teams struggling to score goals they could be capable of heading home with a point.
This is an absolute must-win game for the Cottagers if they are to have any chance at all of avoiding relegation. However, in reality you have to think they are doomed considering they have lost six of their last seven league games and are eight points from safety.
Southampton are also in the drop zone and remain an enigma under Ralph Hasenhuttl. The Austrian manager has improved Saints in some ways, e.g. they are conceding fewer goals, but their results are not much better for his arrival and that is primarily due to not scoring enough.
Danny Ings’ injury has been a blow in that regard and Hasenhuttl chose not to start with an orthodox striker in Sunday’s match at Arsenal which his side fairly predictably lost 2-0.
Apart from beating Arsenal and Everton this season, Southampton’s home form for well over a year now has been poor. They were recently turned over at St Mary’s by Cardiff and the best value among the three options in the Match Result market here appears to be the draw.
