Southampton vs Everton Match Preview
Southampton host Everton for their Saturday’s clash just days after doing the same for Derby County in FA Cup, where they look to build on fine performances early in 2019 and extend their three-match unbeaten streak across competitions.
Saints held Chelsea to a goalless draw and ended a two-match losing streak in their first outings this year, building on it in more exciting clashes against Derby (a 2-2 draw at Pride Park) and Leicester (a 1-2 win at King Power Stadium). They now return to home ground in hope they can impress and finally build towards the Premier League mid-table.
Everton have earned points in front of the home fans as they beat Lincoln City (2-1) and Bournemouth (2-0) over the past two weeks, but Marco Silva has a lot to worry about as his men struggle for consistency – especially on the road where they earned two wins in ten league trips.
Toffees have now rediscovered their form in the final third and this will be more of a pick-me-up too, as Lookman, Bernard, Zouma, and Calvert-Lewin all found the net in the last two outings. We thus expect an exciting challenge but it’s rather questionable if it will be enough at St. Mary’s.
We feel Southampton will be very motivated to build on their rock-solid streak in 2019 and we’ll now stick our necks out for them to hold off the rivals with a Draw, which has caught the eye of many in the know at 12/5 with BetVictor.
We should be in for an exciting occasion, though, and Saints could have to score goals to do so! With that in mind, we’re now also backing a Yes on Both teams to score at 7/10 with Ladbrokes – which would be the fifth such occasion between the sides in a row.
