South Africa Women vs Germany Women Predictions

South Africa Women have never managed to reach the World Cup before now. They have been steadily improving in recent years though, reaching the final four stage at least in each of the last four African Championships and also managing to qualify for the last two Olympic Games but like those two appearances at the Olympics, their first ever World Cup campaign is set to end in the group stages here.

Although Bayana Bayana have far from embarrassed themselves in their two games so far, they haven’t managed to get any points on the board. A 3-1 defeat to an improving Spain outfit in their opening game was followed up with a narrow defeat to China, leaving qualification at this stage impossible. Still, Desiree Ellis will be hoping her team can bow out with a famous underdog win at odds of 30/1 with Unibet.

Germany are among the favourites for the tournament as one of only two nations that have ever won the Women’s World Cup on more than one occasion. That being said, this Nationalelf vintage is not of the same quality as the teams that won those trophies in 2003 and 2007 and that’s perhaps why they’re only third favourites to win the trophy having finished fourth in the last World Cup four years ago.

They haven’t been quite as dominant as the likes of France and the USA in their matches so far but Martina Voss-Tecklenburg have managed to get the job done, winning by a narrow 1-0 scoreline against both China and Spain. Can they pick up another three points as expected here at odds of 1/10 with Bet365 to secure top spot in the group?

We expect Germany to win this game but it might not be as big a margin of victory that the bookies are anticipating. South Africa have looked stronger defensively than many expected, particularly in that 1-0 defeat to China last time out, whilst Germany haven’t been at their usual best going forward, managing a total of just two goals so far in their two matches. South Africa +3 at 59/50 with Unibet looks good to us.
