Solihull Moors vs Rotherham Match Preview
Solihull Moors are looking to reach the Football League for the first time this season. Having been flying high towards the top of the table for the majority of the last few seasons, the Midlands outfit currently sit in third place with 23 games on the board, just four points of Barrow who occupy the top spot in the table. The Moors have been in fine form of late too, going six games unbeaten in all competitions and winning five of those fixtures.
For now though, focus turns to the FA Cup where Tim Flowers is hoping his side can go one better against league opposition than they have managed in the last few years having been knocked out by Blackpool, Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town in the last three seasons. Having beaten league leaders Barrow and then lowly Oxford City so far, can Flowers’ charges stun the TV cameras with a win in this one at 16/5 with Bet365?
Rotherham United are slowly becoming something of a yo-yo team between the second and third tiers. Having been promoted to the Championship in 2013/14, the Millers were relegated after three seasons in the third tier – only to return at the first time of asking before being relegated again in the 2018/2019 campaign. Another promotion could be on the cards this year though as they sit in fourth place in the table with 18 games played.
An away defeat to Portsmouth last time out was the first defeat suffered by Paul Warne’s men in four league games but attention turns back to the FA Cup here, where the South Yorkshire outfit have already won away against non-league opposition once already this season. After beating Maidenhead United 1-3 in the last round the Millers are favourites for another three points here at 5/6 with Ladbrokes.
We can see the visitors’ superior quality eventually shining through in this game. The Millers are a strong side at League One level and although Solihull have the home advantage, we can’t see them causing an upset here. It is however, difficult to imagine the Moors not scoring – they’ve found the net thirteen times in their last four games, including five in their last FA Cup outing. That’s why we’re on the away win and both teams to score bet at 5/2 with PaddyPower.
Freddie Ladapo has been the star turn of this Rotherham attack so far this season. The 26 year old has scored braces in his last two outings for the Millers, bringing his total for the season up to eight in all competitions before we reach the half way stage. We’re backing him for another in this one at 7/5 with Bet365.
