Slovenia vs Latvia Match Preview
Slovenia suffered losses to North Macedonia (2-1) and Austria (0-1) in their last two outings and all but lost their chances for a top 2 spot, sitting five points behind 2nd placed rivals with two games to play. Still, they host Latvia for their Matchday 9 clash on Saturday looking to return to the winning ways and have to hope for slip-ups.
Matjaz Kek’s men have been tough to beat at home ground and we’ve seen them bag six points in wins over Poland (2-0) and Israel (3-2) back in September, before seeing the five-match unbeaten streak ended by Austria. They have been conceding goals, though, and had to outgun rivals to secure points.
Latvia have, on the other hand, seen eight consecutive losses in Group G and this sees them rock-bottomed with a -25 goal difference. They netted just two goals along the way and have two tough tasks ahead, which has few believing they have what it takes to take home any points this campaign.
11 Wolves have seen a 3-1 loss in Israel last time outing and this has been nothing strange, as they saw rivals secure points with at least a two-goal lead on all of the occasions. They would have hoped to show more despite coming as heavy underdogs but we feel Slavisa Stanojevic’s men are in for more disappointment at Stozice Stadium.
We will thus back Slovenia to an exciting win and we’ll go for a Home win & Over 2.5 Goals FT at 4/6 with BetVictor, which feels like more of a banker at this point – as Latvia saw such losses on the regular lately.
As said, Slovenia have hardly felt rock-solid at the back and we now hope Latvia will be able to make their mark as well. We’ll thus also stick our necks out for a Yes on Both teams to score at 3/1 with Paddy Power, which would be the third such occasion in Latvia’s five trips in the Qualifiers.
