Slovakia vs Wales Predictions
Slovakia are looking to return to tournament action at Euro 2022 next summer after missing out on the World Cup last summer. The Falcons have only made it to the finals of that tournament on one previous occasion, but they reached the knock-out stages of the European Championships in France three years ago thanks to a victory over Russia and a draw with England in the group stages in that tournament.
Qualifying has been fairly positive so far for Pavel Hapel’s side as they’ve picked up nine points from an available fifteen, with two defeats away to Wales and at home to Croatia the only negatives. Those nine points leave the side in second place with three of their qualifying fixtures remaining, although two of those three fixtures are against the teams that have beaten them already in this group. Can they gain revenge on one here at 7/5 with Ladbrokes.
Wales have played one game less than the rest of the group so far but they currently sit three points behind both Slovakia and Hungary, meaning they need to string some more consistent performances together in the latter stages of this qualifying section in order to book their place in the European Championships. Having reached the final four stage of such a competition last time around, they’ll be desperate to at least qualify again here.
But under Ryan Giggs, the Dragons have stuttered and struggled for cohesion. Although a crop of extremely talented young players promises for a bright future o Welsh football, results of late have been uninspiring and although they’ve managed narrow home wins over Slovakia and Azerbaijan, the away defeats at both Croatia and Hungary left a lot of work to be done. A win here would be pivotal at odds of 12/5 with Bet365.
We like to look at the low-scoring markets when Wales play as they still tend to adopt a more defensive style where possible. Five of the last seven games involving Ryan Giggs’ outfit have seen less than three goals scored and although Slovakia perhaps play in a more open way, with so much riding on this game we anticipate a more nervy affair with neither side wanting to give too many chances away.
That’s why we’re backing both under 2.5 goals @ 4/7 with BetVictor and the game to be tied up in a draw that wouldn’t really help either side at odds of 11/5 with Unibet.
