Slovakia vs Hungary Match Preview

Hungary travel to Slovakia for their EURO 2020 Qualifiers clash on Thursday on the back of a two-match winning streak, where they beat Estonia (2-0) and Finland (2-0) in front of the home fans late in 2018 and picked up the impressions after troubled trips seen beforehand.

Magyars have indeed struggled to perform on the road and this has been a crucial bit in their failed attempts to impress in Nations League, where they haven’t seen an away win since October 2016 and the trip to Latvia (0-2) – with six losses and just two draws in eight away games since then.

It feels they will now need more despite seeing out a thriller 3-3 draw in Estonia last time out, as Slovakia promise a rock-solid challenge at City Arena Trnava. Pavel Hapal’s men have been more unpredictable lately and come into the match on the back of a November loss to Czech Republic (1-0), which saw them drop out of Nations League B.

Falcons have been more convincing at home ground and will now hope to kick-start their EURO 2020 campaign in such spirits, where they beat Denmark (3-0), outclassed Ukraine (4-1), held off Netherlands (1-1), and only suffered a 1-2 loss to Czech Republic along the way.

We feel they will now be able to build on such records and we’ll back Slovakia to secure all three points, going for a Home win at 8/11 with William Hill in hope they can prove their quality and capitalize on the rivals’ woes away from home.
