BATE picked it up late in the pre-season and managed an important Cup win over Dinamo Minsk (5-3 on aggregate) in early March but still saw a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign – seeing a comfortable 3-1 loss at Energetyk-BGU on Thursday afternoon.
Yellow-Blues have seen struggles on the road last term as well but Kirill Alshevskiy will want more after taking over in January, hoping he can make an impact and fix troubles Alexey Baga saw – especially at the back. Still, by the looks of it, there’s a lot of work to be done and a trip to Stadyen Junatsva does feel like a good place to start.
Slavia Mozyr have, on the other hand, seen a similarly exciting loss at Slutsk over the weekend, where they took the lead just after the half-hour mark but saw the rivals complete a comeback with three goals past Mikhail Baranovskiy in a tense contest which saw Igor Tymonyuk sent off.
Mikhail Martinovich’s men dominated possession but had little to show for it, struggling to create and convert chances at Stadyen Haradski. They will hope they can do more in front of the home fans but should be in for a very tough task, coming off as heavy underdogs despite the visitors’ slip-up early on.
