Shrewsbury vs Sunderland Preview
Sunderland were very convincing as they beat Tranmere Rovers (5-0) midway through the week and they now travel to Shrewsbury for their Matchday 15 clash hoping to build on the performance. However, they’ve struggled to impress on the road and we feel they have a lot to prove if they’re to snatch all three points at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Black Cats have seen a 1-0 loss at Wycombe beforehand and it was quite indicative of their troubles away from home, where they bagged just one win (0-1 at Sheffield United in League Cup) in four trips. They’ve seen a 1-1 draw at Bolton and a 2-0 loss at Lincoln along the way, which hardly feels like a confident run.
Shrewsbury have, on the other hand, held off Lincoln (0-0) and Gillingham (1-1) over the past seven days, extending a four-match unbeaten streak and building on early-October wins over Tranmere (0-1 in League One) and Newcastle U21 (3-0 in EFL Trophy). They’ve been tough to beat at this ground and should be very motivated to show off once again.
Salop have suffered just one loss in six league outings here and they will need more of the same if they’re to catch up with the top 6, sitting four points behind 6th placed Oxford with a game in hand. We don’t see them closing the gap here, though, as we hope for a very narrow contest.
We will thus stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils in a Draw priced at 12/5 with William Hill, which looks like a solid approach to the fixture and definitely more than just a lively longshot at this point.
We should be in for goals, though, and we hope to see them both ends. We’ll thus back a Yes on Both teams to score at 10/11 with bet365, which seems like great value for those keeping faith we’re in for shared spoils in Shrewsbury.
