Sheffield Wednesday vs Wigan Athletic Match Preview
Wigan Athletic’s away record is among the worst in the Championship and they look set for another defeat when they visit Sheffield Wednesday.
The Latics have lost 10 of their 13 league games on the road this season, relying hugely on their home form to keep them away from relegation trouble.
Paul Cook’s side are by no means safe, however, having six points to spare over the drop zone following last week’s excellent 3-0 victory at home to Aston Villa which ended an eight-match winless run.
Sheffield Wednesday also needed a confidence-booster after a lean run of results and they got it when they won their FA Cup replay 1-0 at Luton in midweek.
The Owls are still waiting for Steve Bruce to move in as manager, with three more matches to play before he properly gets his feet under the table as he is fulfilling pre-arranged family commitments this month. Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew are in charge for now.
Neither of these teams is firing on all cylinders and rather than Wigan leapfrogging Wednesday in the table with a win, we are backing the hosts to capitalise on their opponents’ struggles on their travels by taking three points themselves.
