Sheffield Wednesday vs Nottingham Forest Match Preview
Defeat at the weekend for Sheffield Wednesday put to an end a 12-game unbeaten run and put a massive dent in their play-off aspirations. They sit 12thin the table and are six points behind Bristol City who are currently in six. It is a tough run in for Wednesday with each of their next five against a side in the current top ten.
At Hillsborough, the Owls had been unbeaten in their last ten before this defeat and will hope to bounce right back here. It was the second successive home match and the third from their last five to go over 3.5 goals. Steven Fletcher has four in his last five at this ground while Gary Hooper who netted last time could be set for a run of goals after his return from a lengthy injury.
A 2-1 loss away to Rotherham at the weekend means the play-off dream is almost dead for Nottingham Forest. They sit ninth but that has them five behind Bristol City in sixth who also have a game in hand. The only hope the East Midlands outfit have is a kind run-in with none of the last six against a side in the top seven.
Away from the City Ground, the Tricky Trees are draw specialists with only Stoke (12) drawing more than the 11 they have seen end all-square. It is eleven without a victory on the road with six of these ending in a draw. It is now just one goal netted after the break for Forest from their eight previous Championship road games.
Home advantage makes Sheffield Wednesday deserved favourites against a Nottingham Forest side who are poor on the road. The price though looks a little on the short side as it is unclear what the heartache of two late goals to Villa will do to them.
A draw will do neither side a favour here so we could get goals and I think the way to play this is a couple of goalscorer bets. For the hosts, I like Steven Fletcher who has four from his last five at this ground and registered two shots on target at the weekend without netting. For the visitors, Lewis Grabban grabbed one at Rotherham and could have had more and he is a confidence player so if he is in the mood I like him to net here.
