Sheffield Wednesday vs Aston Villa Match Preview
It is now 12 without defeat for Sheffield Wednesday who stretched that unbeaten run with a goalless draw at Stoke last time out. They sit 11thin the table and are four points behind their opponents here who sit sixth. It is a tough run in for Wednesday with each of their next six against a side in the current top ten.
At Hillsborough, the Owls are unbeaten in their last ten winning six of these including four of the last six. They are among four sides in the Championship this season to have lost just three games. Six of the last ten sides to have visited this ground have failed to find the back of the net.
Aston Villa continued their impressive recent form as they defeated Blackburn 2-1 at the weekend to make it five straight victories. They sit in sixth place but both Bristol City in fifth and Derby in seventh have a game in hand. Four of their remaining seven are against top-half teams including matches with Leeds and Norwich to end the season.
Away from Villa Park, the Midlands outfit have won the last two and lost just one of the previous five. They have conceded just 22 road goals this season which is the fifth best record in the division. Their last five on the road in the Championship have produced just seven goals in total.
Both sides are in great form at the moment so it is hard to come with an opinion on this fixture with the draw the most likely option but given how unhelpful it will be to both sides I would not be backing that.
The Owls have conceded just four in their last eight while the visitors have shipped just three in their last six so this could be a fixture low on goals. I think we could be for in a cautious opener so back the game to be level at half-time and 0-0 in the half-time correct score market makes sense.
