Sheffield United vs West Ham United Match Preview
David Moyes will be happy with the start West Ham have made to his second spell in charge and hopes to continue the momentum amid the hostile environment of Bramall Lane.
The South Yorkshire venue is never the easiest for away teams to visit, but the Friday night atmosphere will be especially hot as Sheffield United fans still feel aggrieved about their relegation from the Premier League in 2007 when they went down instead of West Ham, who breached third-party ownership regulations by signing Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
But that is of little concern to Moyes, who will only want to see the Hammers make it three victories out of three since he returned to the club as manager having won 4-0 at home to Bournemouth and then 2-0 away to Gillingham in the third round of the FA Cup.
There appears to have been an improvement in West Ham since Manuel Pellegrini’s departure and that boosts their chances of getting a positive result against Sheffield United, who sit an excellent eighth in the Premier League table.
European football is far from impossible, albeit unlikely, for the Blades, but the biggest plus about their superb first half of the campaign following promotion is that they are nine points clear of the relegation zone and looking good to avoid the dogfight in the basement.
The bookmakers have got Chris Wilder’s side odds-on here, but West Ham are heading in the right direction under Moyes and look capable of escaping this cauldron with a point.
