Sheffield United vs Manchester United Match Preview
Manchester United’s recovery since the October international break is put to a useful test as they return from another two-week hiatus against a club just above them in the Premier League table.
The Red Devils have won five of their last seven matches, the exceptions being a creditable 1-1 home draw with Liverpool and a 1-0 loss on a dismal day weather-wise at Bournemouth.
Encouragingly for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, his team are scoring goals again – three apiece in the latest two home victories over Partizan Belgrade and Brighton, the latter game producing arguably their best performance of the season as they triumphed 3-1.
Solskjaer also has players back from injury now in Luke Shaw, Axel Tuanzebe and Nemanja Matic, although the fast-improving Scott McTominay’s absence with an ankle problem is a blow when fellow midfielder Paul Pogba also continues to be sidelined.
The Norwegian manager probably never thought his club would be behind newly-promoted Sheffield United at this stage of the campaign, but that is the case because the Blades have been an absolute revelation in the opening third of the season.
Chris Wilder’s side keep things very tight defensively, especially at home where they have already beaten Arsenal and dished out a 3-0 thumping to Burnley in their latest fixture at Bramall Lane.
But with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial starting to fire up front for Manchester United and winger Dan James adapting to life in the top flight like a duck to water, we will count on the visitors to maintain their recent progress with another victory.
