Sheffield United vs Leicester City Match Preview
Sheffield United confirmed by beating Crystal Palace last week that the Premier League holds no fears for them – and they may be able to follow up with a win against Leicester.
The Blades, runners-up in the Championship last season and hence automatically promoted, opened their first top-flight campaign in 13 years with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth and then edged out Palace at their Bramall Lane home with a solitary goal from John Lundstram.
Chris Wilder’s side were originally priced up this term as favourites for relegation, but that has all changed as a result of their bright start and they are now as short as 8/15 to stay up.
Not the most conventional team tactically, United may be able to catch some opponents cold who are not used to their style – overlapping central defenders et al – and their home record since Christmas (see stats above) continues to be absolutely superb, even at this higher level.
Hopes are high among Leicester fans too this season and they were the better team away to Chelsea last weekend, but the problem was that they could not take more of the many chances they created in a 1-1 draw.
Indeed, the worry for the Foxes is whether they can score enough goals if Jamie Vardy is not firing on all cylinders and we are backing Sheffield United to keep riding the wave here and continue their early-season promise.
