Sheffield United are revelling in their Premier League newbie status and could catch another team cold when they host Burnley on Saturday.
The Blades have brought something fresh to the English top flight with their overlapping centre-halves and a group of players with limited Premier League experience, and they have created their own identity with a series of defensively solid performances.
Chris Wilder’s side are riding high in eighth position in the table, unbeaten in their last three games and with a famous victory over Arsenal in their latest home match.
They are now a point ahead of Burnley, who lost 4-2 at home to Chelsea last weekend in what was a pretty meek surrender until they pulled two goals back in the final five minutes of the 90.
The Clarets have yet to win on the road this season and while they are more than capable of grinding out results when they venture out of East Lancashire, they have not kept a clean sheet on their travels since mid-January.
That is not an encouraging statistic when they are going up against opponents who are so resilient at the back and while this has the potential to be a game that bucks the Sheffield United stats trend by containing a few goals, we think the Yorkshire club’s promising season will reach new heights here.
