Sevilla vs Villarreal Match Preview
Sevilla host Villarreal for their Matchday 17 clash on Sunday, just days after being denied a sixth win in six Europa League outings by APOEL (1-0). They sit just three points behind La Liga’s top 2 and now have to look to end a two-match winless streak, after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Osasuna beforehand.
Indeed, an early goal from Munir hasn’t proved enough for Sevillistas to keep up with all three points at El Sadar Stadium. They have been tougher to hold off in front of the home fans, though, and Julen Lopetegui will rightfully hope his men can show off once again – boasting a great eight-match unbeaten streak with seven wins and a draw on records since late September.
Villarreal have, on the other hand, dropped down the pecking order and sit just six points clear of the relegation zone after 16 games. They earned just two points in their last six outings, having held Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw to end a losing streak of three last week.
Yellow Submarine have been scoring goals quite regularly but this hardly takes anything away from their woes on the road, where they suffered five losses in six trips with just a 0-1 win at Espanyol interrupting the unwanted run. They found the net in all of their eight away games this term and will surely want to compete for all three points once again.
Still, we feel Sevilla are in a much better place at this point and backing them to bag a Home win feels like buying money for old rope at 4/6 with Paddy Power, which has caught the eye of many big hitters already.
We should be in for goals and while Sevilla have proven themselves a tough defensive line at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, we expect to see them on both ends here. We’ll thus back a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 4/6 with William Hill.
