Sevilla vs Levante Match Preview
Sevilla host Levante for their Copa del Rey clash on Tuesday evening, just days after seeing their four-match unbeaten streak across competitions ended by Real Madrid (2-1) as Luuk de Jong’s goal just after the hour mark meant nothing but a consolation at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Sevillistas beat Bergantinos (0-1) and Escobedo (0-5) in Copa del Rey since mid-December, while also bagging four points in La Liga clashes against Mallorca (0-2) and Athletic Bilbao (1-1). They haven’t been as impressive in the final third but will surely feel confident in front of the home fans, as they look for a ticket to the 8th Finals.
Levante come into the match after beating Real Jaen (on penalties after a 1-1 draw) in 2nd Round and we’ve seen them fail to build on it, with a narrow yet disappointing home loss to Alaves (0-1) now behind them – where Aleix Vidal’s second-half goal made all the difference on Saturday.
Frogs have been scoring away goals on the regular lately and found the net on all of their last four trips, beating Granada (1-2), Melilla (0-5), and seeing a 2-1 loss at Atletico Madrid along the way. They’ll now want to keep it up in search of an upset in Seville but we don’t feel Paco Lopez’s men have what it takes to make it happen.
We do expect them to do their bit in making this a thriller, though, and we’ll now back Sevilla to turn an exciting game their way. We’ll go for a Home win and a Yes on Both teams to score, which does look like a solid approach as Julen Lopetegui struggles to set up a tough defensive line at this ground.
With that in mind, we’re also backing a high-scoring occasion and Over 2.5 Goals FT, which comes at 3/5 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen Sevilla enjoying such clashes on the regular lately and this feels like going for more of the same in that regard.
