Sevilla vs Espanyol Match Preview
Sevilla host Espanyol looking to end a three-match winless streak which saw them crash out of Copa del Rey in the hands of Segunda rivals Mirandes (3-1) as well as La Liga’s top 4 – with just one point in two February outings as Alaves held to a 1-1 draw at this ground and Celta (2-1) snatched all three in Vigo.
Sevillistas have kept scoring goals on the regular but struggled to capitalize, which will have Julen Lopetegui desperate to rediscover defensive stability. They have been tougher to score against at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium through most part of the campaign and doing so here feels like an essential task at this point.
Espanyol have just ended a three-match winless streak but hardly feel confident, doing so against similarly struggling Mallorca (1-0) with a single goal from Raul de Tomas in front of the home crowd. They will need more form an upset in Seville and few believe Abelardo’s men have what it t takes.
Indeed, RCDE struggled to impress on the road and losses at Real Sociedad (2-0 in Copa del Rey) and Granada (2-1 in La Liga) on their last two trips showed all that is wrong up front. They closed the gap to an escape from the relegation zone but making it happen on Sunday will be a very tough task indeed.
We do expect a narrow occasion with high stakes involved on both ends and with that in mind, we’ll back Sevilla to turn it their way in a win to Nil – which comes at 31/20 with BetVictor and looks like the best approach to the fixture at this point.
We don’t really see Sevillistas outclassing the visitors, though, and we’re hoping for a slim margin. With that in mind, we’ll now also go for a low-scoring occasion and back Under 2.5 Goals FT at 4/5 with bet365.
