Schalke vs RB Leipzig Match Preview
Schalke have been all around the place and saw a thrashing 7-0 loss at Manchester City in Champions League emphasize their defensive woes once again, as Domenico Tedesco finds himself in a hot seat and his men look for a return to the winning ways after five consecutive losses hosting RB Leipzig for their Matchday 26 clash on Saturday.
Die Konigsblauen have been a tougher side to beat at VELTINS-Arena but still suffered a narrow first-leg loss to Citizens (2-3) and struggled to bounce back from it, as Mainz 05 (3-0), Fortuna Düsseldorf (0-4), and Werder Bremen (4-2) all convincingly snatched the important league points since then.
RB Leipzig will now hope to capitalize on the rivals’ woes too and we’ve seen them in great shape on the road, promising a very strong challenge in Gelsenkirchen. They’ve been held off in front of the home fans in all of the last three outings but 12 points in four trips along the way will be more of a confidence booster.
Indeed, Die Bullen have beaten Fortuna (0-4), Hannover 96 (0-3), Stuttgart (1-3), and Nurnberg (0-1) on the road since late January and we’ve seen them impress in the final third. We now hope for a similar approach from Ralf Rangnick and we do see the visitors building on their top 4 spot.
We will thus stick with RB Leipzig to snatch all three points here and going for an Away win at 21/20 with bet365 seems like great value, seeing Schalke struggle to turn clashes their way despite scoring goals along the way.
We do feel the visitors will have to outgun Schalke to snatch the important points, though, and with that in mind – it’s easy to make a case for a high-scoring contest on Saturday as we also back Over 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with William Hill.
