Santos vs Atletico Mineiro Match Preview
Atletico Mineiro snatched a thriller 1-2 Copa do Brasil win at Estadio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho on Friday, as Yimmi Chara netted a brace to complete a comeback and their ticket to the Quarter-finals. They now travel to Santos once again and hope to build on the performance in search of all-important points against shaken up rivals.
Galo have thus connected a three-match winning streak too and this will surely give them a lot to build on, as Rodrigo Santana’s men beat Unión La Calera (1-0) in Copa Sudamericana and CSA (4-0) in Serie A beforehand. They’ve struggled for consistency on the road, true, but we feel they’re in a much better place at the moment.
Santos have struggled to impress and this was obvious especially in the final third, as they scored two goals in five games and turned just one of those their way (0-1 at Ceara) with two losses and two draws also on the records. However, Jorge Sampaoli seemingly has a lot to work on.
Still, Peixe sit 3rd placed and just a point behind 2nd placed visitors, which will have them very motivated in search of points which would see them challenge the top of the table as soon as this week. We thus expect a strong challenge but we don’t see them capitalizing on it now either.
We’ll thus stick our necks out for Atletico Mineiro to snatch points here once again and we’ll go for a Double Chance – Draw or Away win at 5/4 with bet365, which feels great value at this point.
However, we expect a narrow occasion and not as many goals now, which has us backing a low-scoring game with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 8/11 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen such clashes on the regular on Santos’ end and this seems like further evidence for such a bet.
