Sampdoria vs Lazio Match Preview
Lazio travel to Genoa for their Matchday 34 clash at Sampdoria on Sunday, just days after beating AC Milan (0-1) to a ticket to the Coppa Italia Final with a rather confident display at Giuseppe Meazza – where they bounced back from a disappointing 1-2 loss to Chievo.
Biancocelesti have seen an underwhelming streak in Serie A and have just one win (2-0 over Udinese) to their name in last five outings, where SPAL (1-0), Sassuolo (2-2), and Milan (1-0) all denied them important points in a chase to catch up with the top 4.
Sampdoria can boast no greater consistency but still sit just four points behind the 8th placed rivals, which surely gives them hope of a UEFA competitions spot. Their struggles on the road have been very obvious in a 3-0 loss at Bologna last week, though, and Marco Giampaolo has to find a way to pick up their spirits.
La Samp have been a lot tougher to beat at this ground and will now hope they can show it once again, despite seeing Atalanta (1-2) and Roma (0-1) snatch points with nine earned in five home outings along the way. We thus expect a strong challenge and the visitors could find it hard to build on the mid-week Cup success.
We will now stick our necks out for Sampdoria to hold off the visitors and to a degree keep themselves in the race for the top 6, where going for a Draw at 12/5 with William Hill feels like more than a lively longshot.
We should be in for goals, though, and we now hope for another high-scoring head-to-head clash as we go for a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/7 with bet365. We’ve seen goals in six of the last seven encounters and with that in mind, this feels like buying money for old rope.
