Saint-Pryve vs Monaco Match Preview
Monaco travel to Orleans for their Coupe de France clash at 4th tier rivals Saint-Pryve, looking for a pick-me-up after a thrashing 1-4 loss to PSG midway through the week as well as a ticket to the 8th Finals. They’ve been in good form up front and will want to show off once again, desperate to retain consistency early in 2020.
Monegasques had held PSG to a thriller 3-3 draw at Parc Des Princes beforehand, building on exciting wins earned against Lille (5-1 in Ligue 1) and Reims (2-1 in Coupe de France). They have scored a total of 11 goals in their last four outings and building on such a tally will certainly be important to Robert Moreno.
Saint-Pryve have been in fine form lately and they’ve shown it against Toulouse (1-0) early in January, where the visitors had a hard time converting chances and Carnejy Antoine shocked them with a last-gasp winner. This will not be the home crowd, though, and this could mean trouble as well.
In-form Antoine went on to find the net twice in a 3-1 win over Montpellier II last week, which will be a good boost to their confidence. However, hosting Monaco – even with a rotated line-up many expected – will be a different task altogether and we don’t feel Baptiste Ridira’s men have what it takes to cope.
We will thus back Monaco to secure a ticket to the next round in an exciting contest in Orleans, where backing an Away win and Over 2.5 Goals FT feels like a generous banker bet at 4/6 with Paddy Power.
We have seen Monegasques in fine form up front but they hardly felt confident at the back, with many slip-ups and open spaces. With that in mind, we’re hoping Saint-Pryve will be able to make an impact as well and we’ll also go for a Yes on Both teams to score – which comes at Evens with William Hill.
